·  A Senior Technical Architect with an extensive array of skills and 20 plus years of experience in architecture, engineering, and designing telecom and IT solutions.

Verizon:

 

As a Senior Openstack, SDN/NFV Architect I am responsible for the  design, presentation and implementation of a lab test environment for the evaluation of the suitability of various vnf product as supplied by a list of vendors in an array of categories. Such virtual products as virtual firewalls, virtual load balancers, virtual routers, virtual cpe, virutal DPI and many others.

 

·                          Create a lab test environment consisting of five Openstack Kilo Clusters based on KVM and RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) to evaluate several use cases such as data centers, large enterprise deployments, etc.

·                          Set and monitor timelines using Agile processes to set sprint goals to deliver the product backlog and achieve the deliverables.

·                          Built and configured many VM instances and OVS switches.

·                          Create a set of evaluation criteria with which to compare the various vnf instances.

·                          Create a set of test scripts to be used on the various vnf products.

·                          Create various test results documents and reports

·                          Assist the test lab in setting up the OpenStack lab and troubleshoot any necessary issues that might arise.

AT&T:

 

As a Systems Engineer I was responsible for producing High Level Designs for the Provisioning Application Layer (PAL) project. These designs were used to automatically produce the custom configuration files to be loaded into the Cisco routers at both the customer premises as well as at the transport level. In the course of the project I was called upon to produce not only designs but also to produce xml schema to hand off to the developers for coding.

·                          Designed solutions based upon customer needs to allow global searches of Cisco router configurations.

·                          Designed and produced an internal customer wiki for Use as a document sharing system, customer education system and user reference area. This saved an enormous amount of engineering time that was normally spent searching for documentation on a then group server.

·                          Provided architectural guidance and knowledge transfer in the areas of SDN and NFV from experience in preparation for the groups future move to provisioning of these new network technologies.

·                          Part of the team developing a new configuration system to deliver VoIP services to a unique group of customers. This was an agile project.

·                          Worked with multiple internal systems including Oracle IPSA, WFMS, and NC3.

·                          Wrote project scope documents as well as Executive summaries for presentation to customer stakeholders.

·                          Created group access user level rights designs.

 

 

TechMahindra  US inc. Verizon Wireline (Basking Ridge N.J.) project:

Senior Technical Architect/Planner

 

While working with Verizon in Basking Ridge N.J. I was assigned to the Architectural Planning team as part of the NeXT project core team. This team was to transform the current architecture of Verizon into their next generation architecture.

Among my tasks were:

·   Authoured a white paper on the current status of inventory management within Verizon and recommend a path for evolution of this status to the next generation of system architecture. A large portion of this concentrated on SDN/NFV and the future of OpenFlow and OpenStack.

·   Authour edadditional white papers on Operations Systems Reference Architecture.

·   Review and comment on the Master Data Management proposal.

·   Participate with the team as an advocate of the proposed NeXT architecture with the various divisions and operational areas within Verizon.

 

 

TechMahindra US inc. Earthlink project:

 

As the M6 Senior Technical Architect on the Earthlink PI2 project I have been called upon to provide innovative solutions for the M6 inventory management system to allow for the replacement of Earthlink’s Wave software by M6 and the automation of the circuit provisioning aspects of the project. I also acted as the component lead for the M6 team and Diamond IP team.

 

·               Designed and prepared solutions for the migration of customer’s Circuit Design database to M6.

·               Presented the above proposal along with a demo to the customer and received acceptance.

·               Designed mechanism to allow the automatic selection of the proper provisioning plans and network connections for the PSR orders.

·               Led the Diamond IP ip management software team in redesigning the IP management process and structure being used by Earthlink.

·               Prepared the proposals for this new ip management structure as well as the business rules surrounding it.

·               In my role as component lead I attended regular Customer facing meetings for both the M6 inventory and Diamond IP management software initiative.

·               Identified several opportunities to provide customer additional services including the migration of their Circuit design database to M6, the migration of their Diamond IP database from MYSQL to Oracle, addition of their region specific provisioning plan changes to name a few.

·               Developed business rules and business process diagrams to document the customer’s current state systems as well as designed future state versions of the same.

Member of M6 Conversion team responsible for the conversion of 4.5 million lines across America from Verizon's AAIS-DS system to Frontier's existing Oracle inventory management system..

·               Prepare data integrity script tests to by run on the migrated equipment data to validate the equipment specifications.

·               Recommend changes to the Equipment Specifications to correct the inconsistencies found.

·               Additionally prepare script tests in HP Quality Center for testing the data in areas such as Sonet, Connection Design, Equipment, PSR, Infrastructure, Orders, DLR's, Network Elements, and Connection Hierarchy.

·               Prepare test scripts to evaluate specific defects discovered and the successful correction of these.

Managed and tracked ETTCS (Ethernet to the Cell Site) fiber upgrade for G4 deployment for the East Pennsylvania, South New Jersey and Delaware region to provide voice and data connectivity to AT&T cell sites over fiber.

·               Preparation of weekly project status reports for tower conversation success rate.

·               Equipment deployment monitoring and tracking from CASPR, IMAP, EPAD and other AT&T reporting systems.

·               Leadership of a team of ten project managers with reporting to the Area Manager.

Retained to evaluate and correct data after upgrade from MetaSolv 5 to MetaSolv 6.1.11. Prepared staging tables for the migration of data from MetaSolv/TBS to Business Objects. Produced scripts to allow the Engineering department to pull data from MetaSolv. Assisted in the re-engineering of MetaSolv to properly replicate SONET and other network topologies.

·               Prepared a new project charter, scope and project plan for upper level management’s approval.

·               Produced reports detailing the discrepancies between MetaSolv and the Cisco TMS system databases in ASAP.

Acted as Granite Subject Matter Expert to engineer and provision DWDM, SONET, EOF, SPA and MPLS networks. This included assisting the Mid-Ohio, NE, New York City, Arizona and Kansas City areas in implementing Cell Tower Back Haul, SPA (Sprint’s Ethernet provided access product) and SONET services development and delivery.

·               Created the models and templates for EVC circuits both EVP and EVPL to transport the Sprint Ethernet SPA ccts plus Ethernet over Fiber ccts.

·               Built equipment specifications, network templates and systems.

·               Trained Circuit Designers to build physical and EVC circuits.

·               Constructed hierarchical networks over fiber based networks including DWDM, CWDM, SONET and Ethernet. These included bandwidths from T1 up to 10Gig and 80Gig circuits.

Designed, engineered and implemented DACS wraps for numerous BSCs.

·               Documented system specifications including the preparation of MOPS, creation of Homer work-orders, required cut-sheets and Granite equipment creation, cross-connects, mappings, revisions and path creations.

·               Project managed customer status meetings as well as GO/NO-GO and review meetings with engineering and market groups. Worked with Tellabs Titan 5500HD, Alcatel 1600 series DACS as well as Alcatel ATM DACS in preparing cut-sheets for DACS migrations.

·               Prepared plans for site exits for the Southern California market of T-Mobile which included cell site and ring optimization.

·               Prepared entrance and ring disconnects and augments.

·               Populated assignments of new CFA’s as well as ACTL swings/hot cuts of DS1’s DS3’s and ATM OC3 circuits.

·               Assisted with equipment template design and equipment inventory management design.

·               Designed and implemented DACS solutions with Tellabs Titan 5500 in Vancouver and Calgary.

·               Designed and implemented Nortel FMS fiber cross connect solutions for Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

·               Managed all aspects of the design, construction and delivery of 150 skid mounted fiber shelter buildings and 130 wireless shelters for deployment in a $500 million provincial wide fiber/wireless network for the government of Alberta (Alberta SuperNet) which linked a total of 400 communities.

·               Proposed and developed a CDMA-1xRTT cellular packet modem TCP/IP based wireless link to replace conventional telephone lines as the data back door access channel for approximately 300 SuperNet sites. This realized approximately $1,000,000 in project savings.

·               Developed an uplink/downlink Satellite alternative data system for remote locations that could not be accessed by either the Cellular network or copper landlines. This featured Ethernet link and employing VOIP (voice over IP) for voice communications.
